Doyle Leads Knights to Conference Title, NCAA Bid

2013 May 22

Carleton College senior, Bridget Doyle, participated on the women's tennis team for the 2012-2013 season, helping the Knights to the conference tournament title and a bid in the NCAA Championships.

The Knights had a record season, defeating Gustavus Adolphus College and University of St. Thomas in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Playoffs, and earning an automatic berth to the NCAA Championships for the second year in a row. The Knights won 5-1 against Grinnell College (Iowa) in the first round of the national tournament, but fell to University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in the regional semifinal. Also earning a bid to the NCAA Championships was the double team of Bridget Doyle and Anne Lombardi, who will be competing May 23-25 in Kalamazoo, Mich. Six of Carleton's players earned all-conference honors, the most honorees for any MIAC team. The Knights also won the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) National Team Sportsmanship Award for the month of May.

Ranked among the nation's top liberal arts institutions, Carleton is a private, co-educational college of 1,900 students located 40 miles south of Minneapolis and St. Paul. High academic standards, an excellent teaching faculty and a diverse student body contribute to Carleton's outstanding reputation.
