George McAneny Earns CollegeSwimming.com Recognition

Senior swimmer George McAneny (Santa Cruz) was selected as the CollegeSwimming.com MIAC Swimmer-of-the-Week for his performance against Gustavus Adolphus College on January 8. Carleton is a member of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) and NCAA Division III.

McAneny won both of his individual swims and helped the Knights prevail in both the 200 medley relay and 200 freestyle relay. He started the meet with the fastest anchor leg (21.31) in the medley relay, helping the Knights post a time of 1:37.41. He was first to the wall in the 50-yard freestyle (21.69) and then won the next swimming event, the 100 freestyle with a time of 48.70. McAneny closed the completion with a superb anchor in the 200 free relay as the Knights won by more than 6.5 seconds, clocking a time of 1:26.16. With his performance, McAneny helped lead the Knights to a 182-106 victory over their MIAC rival.
