Tawakalitou Alabi Participates in Carleton College Scholars Program

2012 Nov 28

Tawakalitou Alabi, a graduate of Lighthouse Academy of Nations, is participating in Carleton College's career center Boston Scholars Program.

Carleton's Scholars Program, to which students must apply and be chosen to participate, consists of exploratory industry tours that typically last 3–4 days at the beginning of Carleton's winter break. The tours introduce a group of students to a variety of organizations within a particular field of interest (e.g., public policy, green tech, business/finance, film/television, public health/medicine, etc.). These tours include site visits, panel discussions, receptions, and group reflection. Some programs include home-stays with recent alumni in the area.

Alabi of Minneapolis, Minn., is taking part in the Boston Scholars Program in the medical field. The experience focuses on medical research, healthcare consulting, medical school, public health, and doctors/physicians. It includes visits and interactions with contacts at Harvard Medical School, Harvard Dental School, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Mass General Hospital, Brigham & Women's Hospital, Institute for Healthcare Improvement, and the Boston University School of Public Health.

Ranked among the nation's top liberal arts institutions, Carleton is a private, co-educational college of 1,900 students located 40 miles south of Minneapolis and St. Paul. High academic standards, an excellent teaching faculty and a diverse student body contribute to Carleton's outstanding reputation.
